Former Ole, Huskies assistant, named head coach

Andover High School Activities Director Eric Lehtola announced Monday that Melissa Sailor has been named the Huskies' new Varsity Coach.

Sailor coached the previous two seasons as an assistant to Ben Monahan, who resigned at season's end to balance family interests.  She became Monahan's top assistant after coaching at Champlin Park High School and in the Elk River Youth Hockey Association.  Coach Sailor has honed her coaching skills as an Os Hockey Program instructor and coach, and as a coach in the Upper Midwest Elite League, the Reebok High Performance 16 program as well as the Elite II League (Premier Prep League).

Ms. Sailor earned a BA in Exercise Science with a Management Concentration from St. Olaf College where as a 4-year letterman, played 100 career varsity games and served as team Captain for the Oles.  She also holds a Master of Science in Sport Management from St. Cloud State University.

Sailor is currently employed as a health advisor for Lifetime Fitness and has a very well-rounded leadership background including experience in goal-setting, mentoring, as a personal trainer, in program development and coordination and interpersonal communication.
