CHA's Top Defenseman Added to STP Camp Staff

Mercyhurst star frosh Byrne commits to tutor Huskies dmen

Mercyhurst University Lakers' defenseman Molly Byrne has been added to the the Andover Huskies STP camp staff for summer development.

Byrne recentlly completed her freshman season at the private university located in Erie, Penn., playing 34 games, scorinng 34 points (6 g, 28 a) and a plus/minus of +21.  The Lakers lost to NCAA Runner-up Wisconsin in the NCAA Quarterfinals.

"We are privileged to have Molly Byrne on board for this summer camp," said Huskies Head Coach, Ben Monahan.  "Molly will share her knowledge of the game of hockey and her experiences playing NCAA Division I hockey and will be a tremendous complement to our staff.  She will work exclusively with the defensemen." 

The Plymouth, Minn. native began her prep career at Totino Grace High School before moving to powerhouse Shattuck St. Mary's, where she helped SSM to a national championshin in 2010-11.  She scored 30 goals and 40 assists in three seasons at Shattuck.

Byrne was recentyl honored as the College Hockey America Conference (CHA) Defenseman of the Year as well as capturing First Team All Conference honors.
