A defending champ and a tournament newcomer are the top seeds in this year’s girls hockey state tournaments.

Andover, the defending Class 2A champ and current unbeaten, is the top seed in Class 2A, while Gentry Academy, making its first state tournament appearance, gets the top seed in Class A.

Gentry Academy will play River Lakes, another tournament debutant, in the Class A quarterfinals on Friday at 6 p.m. Andover plays Farmington at 6 p.m. Saturday, with the winner of that playing the winner of the quarterfinal between fourth-seeded Stillwater and fifth-seeded Eastview in a semifinal to be played the following week.

The entire tournament will be played at the Xcel Energy Center. The semifinals and finals for each class will be televised on KSTC Channel 45.
